History
Davidson Community Foundation launched its efforts in early 2020. Our goal has always been to increase the capabilities of nonprofit organizations serving the unique Davidson community. Today, DCF is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, guided by a diverse, all-volunteer board of directors. Our aim remains constant- to expand local philanthropic efforts and direct funding where it is needed most.
As the COVID crisis emerged in 2020, DCF focused its energies on helping to meet emergency needs, raising nearly $500,000 to assist nonprofit partners serving the community. That support provided critical assistance to 230 low-income families – more than 750 neighbors in need – who needed assistance with rent/housing, food, medical expenses, utility services and transportation.
Since then, DCF has led community efforts to create more permanently affordable housing. The Foundation raised $400,000 to help buyers earning less than 80 percent of the area median income (AMI) purchase homes in the new Parkside Commons Townhomes development with mortgages they can afford. This partnership with the Town of Davidson will yield eight homes, which will remain affordable for years to come.
In partnership with Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region, Rebuilding Together, and the Town of Davidson, DCF is supporting critical home repairs in West Davidson to enable local seniors to age in place in homes they own. From roof repairs to stable flooring and weatherproof windows, the Foundation is funding repairs for 15 homes that will be completed by the end of 2025.
